Tabellen viser arealet av registrerte naturtyper i Oslo målt som prosentandel av Oslos totale areal. Kartleggingen av naturtyper er gjennomført etter standardiserte metoder fastsatt av Miljødirektoratet. Opplysningene er samlet i kommunens naturdatabase og tilhørende kartlag, som ivaretas av Bymiljøetaten. Naturtypene er viktige områder for ivaretakelse av biologisk mangfold. De kartlagte, verdifulle naturtypene er inndelt i sju hovednaturtyper. Skog er den dominerende hovednaturtypen. Det vil si at det er i skogen vi finner størstedelen av arealet som er viktig for bevaring av biologisk mangfold. Det er områdene som er registrert i byggesonen som er utsatt for sterkest press. De fleste av disse tilhører hovednaturtypene ferskvann/våtmark, skog og andre viktige forekomster. Også områder på øyene er truet (blant annet i hovednaturtype havstrand/kyst).
